It was a hot night in LaVista at The Astro. Temps were in the 90’s but the hottest thing by far was Halestorm. Lzzy Hale and Halestorm came prepared to rock the Astro and that is exactly what they did.

Lzzy’s voice is one of the best vocalists you will ever hear live. And Halestorm, they are as strong as any band you can see. Joe Hottinger is an amazing guitar player, and a great compliment to Lzzy’s playing too. Throw in Arejay (Lzzy’s brother on drums), Josh Smith on bass to complete the band. Halestorm is currently on tour for their latest album “Everest”, which has been out for about a year now. It is one of my favorite releases by them. They literally just seem to get better and better and they go. And this nighty was no different.

Halestorm kicked off the show with Fallen Star and Watch Out, both songs off the new release. The set list was strong with old and new. One of my favorite parts was when Lzzy played the piano and sang Like a Woman Can and Break In. Hearing her sing those songs is one of the top moments of the year for me so far. Another favorite moment for me was when they played the Lady Ga Ga cover of Bad Romance. It is a song they covered on an EP back in 2011. Which is an obvious fan favorite as that song has almost 122 million streams on Spotify. Honestly, they have so many hits they could play, I’m sure it’s tough to make out a setlist.

It’s always awesome when you get to cover one of your favorites. Halestorm has never disappointed me, and judging from the crowd’s reactions, I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone who ever left a show disappointed. They are an exception to many modern-day bands who use backing tracks. None needed here. They are as good as it gets. If you haven’t ever seen them,  then shame on you.
